St. Anton and the skiing region
The development of the Arlberg skiing region began as early as in 1937 with the opening of the famous lift at Galzig. The peak of this development was when all Arlberg skiing regions were merged into one greater skiing region with collective ski-pass rates.
In 2001, the village of St. Anton reached another milestone when it hosted the Alpine Ski World Championships for the first time. The 350 000 visitors were treated to one of the best World Championships ever – and to the party on occasion of Ski Club Arlberg’s 100-year anniversary. St. Anton is, and will remain, a place of pilgrimage for ski fans.
